Prototype 3
Digital Interface

"80% of pantries rely on manual processes for coordinating food, causing delays and miscommunication. [We also identified] long planning cycles for logistics that can take up to two months and limited funding, which hinders tech adoption. This led us to our guiding design question: “How might we connect food pantries and other distributors into a seamless system that facilitates efficient food distribution by allowing a logistics company to integrate later for enhanced delivery operations?"

The HCI Team developed this video that walks through their design process and demonstrates their digital prototype.
Prototype 3 was created throughout the 2024-25 school year by a team of Human Computer Interaction Master's Degree students from Luddy at IU Indianapolis: Aastha Bisen, Avishkar Shinde, Samar Adhikari, and Sampada Taralgatti. Their priorities for consideration were:

1. Connecting food providers & food pantries digitally for efficient information sharing
2. Ease of information sharing for inventory control & order processing
3. Logistics capability for third-party companies to help deliver orders to pantries in need of that service
After the group identified these important features, they designed and built a ditigal prototype of a software interface that they plan to test with potential users in the pantry system in late spring 2025.
