The food pantry logistics work highlighted on this website is a result of deep collaboration by many partners during the pursuit of my Master's Degree in Designing for Social Change at Herron School of Art & Design | IU Indianapolis from 2023-2025. In addition to the team listed as participants in the design workshop on the home page of this website, I have had the privilege of working with the Toyota Mobility Foundation (William Chernicoff), the Toyota Production System Support Center (Jamie Bonini), The United States Economic Development Administration University Center Program, Southeast Community Center (Shelva Floyd), God's Bounty Pantry (Debra Burke), Nine13 Sports (Tom Hanley), and very many talented faculty and students at IU and Purdue Universities, particularly my thesis advisor and director of Herron's graduate program, Youngbok Hong, and my supervisor through the Initiative for Electrified & Autonomous Mobility, Clayton Nicholas. It is our collective hope that this work can be used to inform continued improvements in the efficient delivery of food to Indianapolis/Marion County residents who continue to experience food insecurity at an alarming rate.
The Indy Hunger Network's January 2024
"Survey Report: Food Assistance and Hunger in Indiana" indicates that Marion County residents requesting food assistance climbed 55% from 2019 to 2023. As the prices of housing and food in our community continue to rise, we anticipate this problem to persist, so finding a way to help is critical. Thank you for your interest in our work.
